The patch antenna is an open resonator and will depend on:

1. Frequency of operation: can be tuned by adjusting the length(thickness) and width of the patch … 2.4GHz

2. Input impedance = ratio between the electric and magnetic fields around the patch antenna

3. Bandwidth: dependent on the width                  

Step 1: find how the antenna will be fed

Solution: Use probe and coax cable 

Step 2: figure out the dimensions of the strip

Materials: RT/duroid 5880 datasheet says epsilon = 2.20 and standard thickness = 0.127mm 

Using everything RF microstrip patch antenna calculator we input

Epsilon = 2.2

Thickness = 0.127mm

Frequency = 2.4GHz

We get a result of 

Width = 0.0494 or 49.411mm
